Time for a Blog Post!

I know I haven't blogged in over a week. I've been so busy trying to get situated with these new classes and I haven't had time to catch ya'll up on my happenings! Here are a few new things that have been up to....I straightened my hair! So now all of my new Regent friends have experienced the epic awesomeness that my hair is :) Thank you everyone for complimenting me! It makes me feel so good!

My new classes are going well. I'm taking British Romantics and Visual Communication. I'm excited to dive deeper into the work. I am still really enjoying my math class and all of the knowledge that I have obtained from being in that class.

I hung out a lot this week with amazing friends. My friend Sammi and I spent a lot of time together this week being chatty chatty friends. Prayer meeting was on Monday and we had an awesome time! God really showed Himself :) We had our Life Group meeting on Tuesday and the girls each wrote something nice about the other girls on a piece of paper. They are such a blessing to me! Wednesday was a fun day too! Sammi and I watched the Corpse Bride. I had never seen it before and I was kinda creeped out, but Johnny Depp is awesome! Then, we said Happy Birthday to a friend of ours and had an impromptu dance lesson on the 2nd floor.

Enter crazy days!!!!!!!!!! I didn't get to sleep until almost 2 a.m. on Wednesday night, but I had to get up early for Carlos Campo's inauguration as the new president of our school. It was an awesome ceremony. Yet, I was super tired. I walked with friends back to the Commons and ate eggs, then proceeded to fall asleep in Sammi's room for a little bit before I had to go to math class. And I was falling asleep in math class...not good. Thursday night was a lot of fun. I went to the Thursday night dance social in the Ordinary. I got to get my dance on!!!!!!! And I looked mighty cute in my dance outfit ;) Then, we went to my friend's party and had lots of fun!

I will write another blog post soon on my recent fun! This one will catch you up :)

Skinny Dip...Say What?!?!

I know that all of my non-Virginia friends probably freaked out when you saw the title of my blog post :) I'm not talking about *ahem* skinning dipping as most of us know....I'm talking about Skinny Dip the frozen yogurt bar. Back in Cali, we have Berry Star and Tutti Frutti. Berry Star is really good and I enjoyed going every once in a while to enjoy a healthy frozen treat. For those of you that aren't familiar with frozen yogurt bars, all you do it choose a flavor (or two...or three...) of yogurt, then choose different toppings for the yogurt. Personally, I like either the regular tart yogurt flavor or a berry flavor with fruit toppings and coconut. It's delicious! I had Skinny Dip once since I moved to VA and I really liked it. They have a lot of yogurt flavors and toppings to choose from. I like knowing that I can have dessert and stay healthy at the same time. Because yogurt has live cultures in it :) We're going to Skinny Dip tonight for our Life Group's Fall Break meeting. I will try not to gorge myself...promise!!!

On a side note, I'm also super excited to watch Van Helsing when I get back from Skinny Dip. I LOVE that movie! Holla for a fun Thursday evening :) Blessings!

Juana's Fall Break Saga

I knew that Fall Break was going to be a little uneventful since I stayed at Regent, but I have enjoyed the quiet time that I really needed after a few stressful weeks in school. Right now, I'm enjoying a hot cup of English tea and dry corn pops while I watch the newest episode of Lie to Me on Hulu. Ahhhh, such a quiet night :) The weekend was pretty fun. I went to dance class and learned the waltz and a few news moves for the Jive. I absolutely love dancing :) It's amazing! On Sunday night, I baked the chicken that my friend Stephen gave me! It was delicious! I poured spicy spaghetti sauce over it and baked it for two hours, then ate it with spaghetti noodles and green beans. I invited my friend to eat with me and we hung out with my roommate and another friend while we watched O Brother Where Art Thou. It was a fun night! Monday was interesting. I woke up and Sammi and I did Bible study over the phone. It was nice being able to have fellowship with her even though we're a few hundred miles apart. I ended up eating oatmeal, spicy sausage, and eggs (covered in pepperjack cheese) for breakfast. Delicious! I spent the rest of the day completing official business. Later on that night, I went to the mall and movies with my roomie and her friend. Annnnddd the night stretched on! My friend brought me band aids for my nail since I smashed it and it's starting to flake. We hung out for a while (which included me chasing him down the hall, eating more spaghetti, and cracking up).

Tuesday was fun too, though a little less busy. I woke up and did Bible study with Sammi again. I got up and ate the same yummy breakfast as the day before. I felt a little sick and fatigued afterwards, so I took a nap. When I woke up, I found that the package my family sent me had arrived. I was so excited! I called them and talked with them as I opened it up and pulled out my winter coat, boots, hair curler, and other items from home. Yay!!! I ate a snack and prepared to go to a Mary Kay meeting with Allison Ackerman and Emma! It was a lot of fun! I love playing with makeup and I won a free product plus a new eyeliner (I can't wait to try out this new color!). I came home and ate gumbo, then watched the Princess and the Frog with my friend. Thus, my first few days of Fall Break were pretty fun! Blessings!

Annnnndddd, I Have Finally Reached Fall Break!

*insert big, long, heavy sigh*

I am done with session A of school! Yesssss! I am so tired (yet I'm up blogging...). My body hurts, my mind is foggy from spending hours upon hours writing this week. Let's go back and begin with Monday's happenings. On Monday, Sammi and I got up to do Bible Study and then Abby and I attempted to do math homework. The problems were confusing so we just ate pizza and decided to wait until after class to ask the professor for help. Then, I attempted to decide what to write my final lit paper on. Onward to Tuesday. Abby and I go to class. I tried to concentrate on figuring out the problems I needed help with, but I knew I was going to have to ask my teacher for help. At the end of class, I dropped onto my knees in front of the class and prayed out loud that God would help me (I was super stressed out and wanted a good grade on my homework). My classmates and professor all helped each other to figure out the problems we had questions on. I was able to figure out all but one....I figured I would do it once I got back home. I got back and that is when the major meltdown began. It was only one little problem I couldn't understand, but it felt like the end of the world has begun! Then, the topic I had chosen for my paper seemed odd and foreign to me, so I ended up having to change it AND write the outline for it. Abby came over and we began melting down together. Jumping on the couch and confused statements were involved. I was supposed to bake brownies for Life Group, but I had so much schoolwork to do, so Abby took over and helped me bake them. Thanks, girl :) We went to Life Group for pizza. I didn't stay for the movie because of the amount of schoolwork that needed to be done, but it was a fun time to unwind. Write outline = end of night. Enter Wednesday...I get up to spend the day writing my paper. I spent about 4 1/2 hours sitting on my couch writing. It was intense! And finally, I finished my paper, but I went 200 words OVER the limit. I had some serious proofreading to do. Thursday was a calm day. It rained, I went to math class and we got out early. I proofed my paper and cleaned up my room. The rest of the night involved dancing, giggles, and Sonic. I knew Friday was gonna be a crazy day. I had to complete a 4 hour exam and submit my paper. It truly was a crazy morning/afternoon, but thanks to God and my family and friends who prayed and loved on me, I survived. I hit "submit" for my exam and paper and I was DONE!!!! Yesssssss! So happy! Thank you, Jesus! Time to relax for a week, then do it all over again ;)

I wish I was here :)

The Most Amazing Rainy Days

Last week, the VA Beach area was expecting a lot of rain. And boy, we weren't disappointed. It POURED. And I loved every minute of it. Let's see...the rain started on...Monday. I went to the library because it wasn't raining too badly. But when it was time to leave, I tried to dodge raindrops because I had my laptop and iPod with me. Trying to juggle several books, bags, and umbrella while attempting to stay dry is NOT an east task. However, I managed to return to my room mostly dry. I had class on Tuesday, so my friend drove me over since we have class around the same time. The rain continued to pour while I was in class, then I walked back to my room afterwards since the rain let up a little. Yet, I enjoyed the rain, thunder, and lightening. It was so relaxing and quiet around. I mean...quiet when I wanted it to be :) I did my homework and enjoyed my time indoors. On Wednesday, I took advantage of the rain and lack of homework to bake cookies and brownies for the girls in my hall. It was so fun! …And yummy :) My friend Abby and I stayed in to finish up homework and eat ice cream. Now, Thursday. I was really looking forward to Thursday. My friend Brittany was coming into town, UnChapel was that night, and game night was that night too. But the rain came down like no tomorrow. Again, my friend drove me to class and another friend drove me back, so I was able to avoid walking back in the Noah's ark type flood rain puddles. But while we were in class, the rain sounded beautiful even though it was literally pouring and pounding. I walked to the library later on once the rain let up so I could meet my friend and I assumed that the rain was pretty much over with. I assumed wrong. As my friends and I walked over to game night, we dodged huge puddles and tried to stay dry. (I had forgotten my big pink umbrella, but Abby let me use hers...thanks girl!). We enjoyed game time and dance club, but when it was time to walk back, the rain had started back up again. My friend Stephen walked with me and helped me through the puddles. Such an intense rain period! But I really did enjoy the peacefulness that the rain brought. Everyone stayed indoors and hung out together...amazing college life :) Blessings!

Dancing All Around!!!

Dancing is one of my passions! I'm not a professional ballerina, trained modern dancer, or even a cool hip hop stepper. But I LOVE to dance! I have really awesome rhythm and can catch on pretty quickly to any dances I'm learning. I've taken ballet and musical theater dance classes and I am ALWAYS dancing in the kitchen. Any chance that I have to dance, I’ll take it. I heart going to dances and dance parties/clubs (mind you, the good kind...not the creepy kind). I always wanted to learn ballroom dances and I got the chance a few years ago when a friend offered to teach me. My sister and I learned the waltz, tango, swing, fox trot, and cha cha. It was awesome! I had been getting emails about Regent's ballroom dance class for a while now and was super excited to have the opportunity to take them once I moved on campus. And I am enjoying it tremendously! We are learning the Latin dances right now...cha cha, samba, rumba, and meringue. Oh my goodness, do I have fun! Even if I don't know the moves right away, I just go with the flow and try to at least look good. And a shout out to my new friends, Jeremy and Will, who are in dance class with me! Such great dancers! On Thursday night, usually after UnChapel, the dance students and others who like to dance meet up to have a dance club. I was able to go for the first time last night and it was AMMMMMAAAAAAIIIIIINNNNGGG! :) I had an awesome time! I got to dance with new partners, learn new moves, and dance my favorite dances! I definitely suggest taking at least one dance class in your life! Dance is a great way to express yourself :) Blessings!
